A tribute to Stephen King, and the Gunslinger series in particular. I teach high school English and have been reading King since I was 12. His words and works have been a huge part of my literary life.

I got a cherry blossom on my arm on my 18th birthday, it was a completely spontaneous decision. Shortly after I made my first attempt at suicide and then around 7 months later my second. After the second time things began to get better and I decided that I would get a cherry blossom every year on my birthday to celebrate making it through. On my 19th I had one on the back of my neck then on my 20th I had the branches you can see here and my 3rd blossom. I intend to continue having a blossom every year on my birthday, down my back and my left arm.

Got this at Nomads in Guadalajara Mexico, was a bit of a spontaneous tattoo, I didn’t really have anything in mind when I did it - but I still love it.

This is my little sister’s first tattoo (little baby is growing up!). She wanted to have something pink, plus she always loved cherry blossoms. She said the location hurt like hell but she took it like a man.

My cherry blossoms. Freehanded by Anya Gladun of DC Ink.
For me these represent both the Japanese and Chinese ideologies. Feminine power and sexuality as well as the transience of life; the good things won’t last forever, but neither will the bad.
